Check if a Business Name Is Available with ASIC
Enter your preferred business name below. We check the ASIC register directly and email you back to confirm whether the name is available or already registered. If it is clear, we can lodge it for you the same day.
The Name Is One of the First Real Decisions You Make
You have a business in your head and a name you are attached to. Before you order cards, build the site or paint the van, you want to know it is genuinely yours to use. That is the part most people are unsure about, and the part we sort out properly.
-
You are not sure if the ASIC tick is the whole story
It is not. A name can be free on ASIC and still clash with a registered trademark or a business already trading under it. We check the company and trademark registers as well, so a clear result actually means clear, and you find that out before you spend a dollar on branding.
-
You want it locked in, not left as a maybe
Names get taken while you are deciding. If yours comes back clear, we lodge the ASIC registration for you the same day rather than leaving you with a search result and a to-do. If it is already gone, we suggest close alternatives that are genuinely available, not just the next thing on a list.
-
You are not certain what you actually need to register
Business name, company name, ABN, trademark. The difference is genuinely confusing when you are starting from scratch, and it matters for how you trade and how you are taxed. We talk you through what fits your plan, set up a Pty Ltd if that is the right structure, and keep you compliant from day one.
A Free ASIC Name Does Not Mean a Usable Name
Every founder learns this the hard way. We cross-check the registers ASIC does not so you do not paint a logo on the wall and then get a cease-and-desist three months later.

We Want You Starting on Solid Ground, Not Cleaning Up Later
We Tell You the Real Answer
The ASIC tool only flags identical names. We check the company and trademark registers too, and we tell you plainly if a name is risky even when it technically reads as available. We would rather you hear that now than after the signage is up.
We Do the Lodging, Not Just the Looking
A search result on its own still leaves the work to you. If your name is clear we register it the same day, pay the ASIC fee and pass it on at cost. You get the name secured, not another task on your list.
We Set the Structure Up Right
A name is the start, not the whole picture. We make sure the structure underneath it fits how you will trade and how you will be taxed, set up the Pty Ltd if that is the right call, and handle trademark protection through our IP partner when your brand is worth defending.

If both registers clear, we lodge the ASIC business name (1 or 3 year) for you, plus a Pty Ltd company structure if you need a registered legal entity. If not, we suggest similar available alternatives.

What Founders Ask About Business Names
Is registering a business name enough to protect my brand
No. A business name registration just lets you trade under that name. It does not stop someone else using a similar name or trademarking it. For brand protection you need a registered trademark via IP Australia.
Business name vs company name, what is the difference
A company name is the legal name of a Pty Ltd, for example "Smith Holdings Pty Ltd". A business name is the trading name, for example "Smith Plumbing". You can trade under either, but if you trade under a name different from the company's legal name you must register the business name.
How long does ASIC registration take
Usually issued within 15 minutes of submission. Sometimes flagged for manual review (24 to 48 hours). We monitor and follow up.
Should I also register the trademark
If brand is core to the business, yes. A trademark gives you exclusive rights to use the mark in your registered classes and the right to stop competitors using a confusingly similar mark. From around $280 per class via IP Australia.
What if my preferred name is taken
We suggest available alternatives close to your preference, factoring in pronunciation and trademark clearance. Often the second-choice name is actually stronger commercially.
